Asha Mathew

I have been nursing for 23 years, with 15 years of experience in cancer and haematology. I have gained experience within a variety of settings and roles including 9 years as Haematology and Chemotherapy CNS. I have developed advanced skills in SACT administration, bone marrow aspiration, cannulation, care of CVADs, stem cell transplant, venesection. I have advanced communication skills and provide level 2 psychological for haematology patients. I completed my Masters in Professional Practice from Bucks New University in 2017 which included my dissertation on the effect of survivorship programmes for lymphoma patients.

Within my current role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Haematology / Team Lead in Buckinghamshire NHS Trust I work as an expert practitioner and I am developing the strategic vision in line with National standards. Within haematology I have lead on the development and implementation of holistic needs assessment, pathways of care for oral SACT and the ambulatory care pathway for high intensity patients.

With my current role I demonstrate leadership and contribute to the development within the service to ensure the provision of an equitable service that deliver high quality care to patients. I closely work with multi-disciplinary team, Acute Oncology team and also lead in education for staff.

I am a Macmillan professional and a member of UKONS Haematology, SACT and AOS MIGs.
